Update on second charity for Daboy

Fortunately, Daboy's parents had enough money to cover all of his expenses and still had a little bit left, which will be put towards the burial. However, my aunt and I collaborated and decided to donate the proceeds to the homeless. The Coalition for the Homeless is located in Washington, D.C., where Daboy spent a lot of his time when he lived in Northern Virginia with all of us. He always wanted to give back to the less fortunate, but couldn't because he himself didn't have a whole lot to give. Daboy would've given the shirt off of his back to another person, though. He was such a great person.

The proceeds will now go towards the Coalition for the Homeless. Each bracelet is $7 and that includes shipping. They will have a set color scheme of brown and tan, the same colors as Daboy's wicker vans. Contact me via thegirlyeye@gmail.com if you'd like one. Give me 2 weeks, considering I'm doing 2 charities at once.

FIRST TSUNAMI RELIEF BRACELET, EVER!

So I've come up with a solid solution, thanks to my friend Aly.

I'm going to stick with this one design because, well, we're all supposed to support the one cause at the end of the day. This isn't about fashion. This isn't about matching or accessorizing. This is about the hope that one day Japan will rise again.

Each bracelet comes with the design of the rising sun and a caption "For Japan." Each bracelet is going to sell for $10. I will keep 20% and donate the rest to the Red Cross. I will also ship anywhere in the world. I will do donations through my paypal account, which will be set up either sometime today or tomorrow. Please keep in mind it takes me a long time to do these bracelets considering that I am making them myself and not starving Ethiopian kids lasting on energy drinks and candy. And please also understand that I do have a crazy schedule with work and school and ninja fighting classes (so serious). So if you order one, please allow up to 2 weeks until you receive your bracelet. Along with the bracelet you'll receive cute little instructions on how to fasten your bracelet to your wrist and once time permits, a sticker

Apparently, I'm a mother for wearing blouses now.

My inspiration for this outfit is from the gnarly Hill Harper. Originally, I wanted to wear a red camisole underneath but, believe it or not as I'm about to say something ridiculously crazy for me, it was too much color going on. Luckily thanks to my underground stylist, he had suggest a neutral color, white or cream. And the floral print skirt? Tropical prints are obviously coming in due to the seasons. Bright, vibrant colors are a good way to catch the essence of summer. Body con skirts have been in for quite a while, especially with the younger generations. They're probably going to be in for a while. Can't quite say I predict it won't be. I went through this little phase where I didn't wear a whole lot of high waist body con skirts just because I was insecure about my legs. But considering the beautiful fucking weather today and how bright this skirt actually is, I figured together it wouldn't be a bad combination at all. Animal print and floral is a hit or miss, depending on the actual floral print, but if you guys haven't picked up on this yet! I don't really give a shit. I feel super feminine and super soft, but I'm still here to conjure up a rebellion against mankind itself. In all seriousness, but not really. Enjoy!

More for sale and j'ai une idée

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not that in tune with the world and its news and yaddiyaddiya. I blame about 95% of that on the fact that I don't have cable. The other 5% is just that I'm too busy. But I do know about the crisis in Japan, and I feel god awful about it. My origin goes way back into many different types of blood, and Japan being one of them. I feel like I shouldn't just sit here and feel sorry for those that are actually living in the torment. I've decided to try this idea and if I have enough support, I will go 100% through with it.

I am going to make, with my own two goddamn hands, rising sun bracelets that also say "for japan" on them. I"m not going to use beads because from past experiences, they don't work very well and it'll take me even longer to make it. Plus, it kind of looks tacky if you want me to be honest. I know all these celebrities are making t-shirts and sweatshirts and even bracelets, but what's kind of sincere about my idea, is that I'll be making them and not poor little Ethiopian kids. I will make the first one today. I'm going to be charging $10 for each bracelet and the proceeds will go to the Red Cross for the tsunami relief. Da would've probably thought I was "wildin' out" if he had seen me like this. He knows my style is wild enough. But he never thought I was crazy. He probably would've been one of my top followers. Oh, Daboy. I was doing just fine until yesterday.

Oh the note of fashion, obviously the weather is warming up, which means white on white on white with brown sandals. You think I'm kidding? Walk by my store tomorrow, and if you want something to do today, walk by H&M's windows. You'll get it. Mr. Wang's summer 2011 line is pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. It's not really about the whole "country girl" concept. It's just about the simplicity. Calvin Klein's spring/summer 2011 collection is pure white and/or black dresses with minimal silhouettes and extreme flow and comfort. Francisco Costa has a similar concept.

Now, as for me, I much much much prefer to shop with the tribal prints and the tropical feel. I'm not going to wear white on white because I'm a messy eater and I'll most likely spill something on myself and it'll look ridiculous and I'll get pissed off and kick myself in the face. Can't go wrong with tribal prints. Provides more of an edge and gives you a little more versatility as far as accessories and, so gay to say, but swag as well. The tropical feel, obviously, is coming in faster than we expected. Bikinis with fisherman cable ponchos and gladiators and neon colors and bright striped dresses. Big floppy hats, big floppy hats! Ugh, love those big floppy hats, seriously. With the boho/hippie outlook, big ole' bangles gives you more of an -umph, if that makes sense. Cherry colored lips and big ole' N. Richie sunglasses will do it for you. Seriously. It's always a trip to write on my blog because I have all these pictures in my head that I can't describe to you, so instead, I do the best I can and hopefully it makes sense.

I'm going to enjoy what's left of my day before I surrender myself to an overnight at my store.
